Kapa Building and Roofing are proud to have played a key role in transforming this stunning building in the Whangārei Town Basin. Now known as Kai Toi, the newly revitalised space is open as a beautiful café and restaurant which has long been a dream of the Hihiaua Cultural Centre. It was a vision to create a landmark and a vibrant hub for community gatherings and we feel proud to have worked alongside some of Whangarei's most talented tradesmen and local business to bring this vision to reality.

We decided to work with Rua and his team on our build project and the experience has been faultless. Throughout the build Rua constantly had suggestions to save costs but also to improve the finished result. Rua and his team, throughout the build and consultation process, were always friendly and easy to communicate with.

Anyone who has built a new home will know how challenging it can be. Rua and his team made this so much easier and they were just a delight to work with. The Kapa Build team were incredibly tidy throughout the process and the site was always kept spotless. At the end of the day all tools were put away, drop sheets were removed and the work area and any other effected areas were left impeccable.

Rua has has surrounded himself with a dream team who have top-notch experience, expertise, and workmanship.The result is an experience that left us feeling relaxed and informed throughout the process and a home that is even better than we had hoped for.

Tiny Home New Build

Every part of this tiny home was considered in terms of how our client wanted to use the space and to create a layout that suited her lifestyle and needs. The client was keen to embrace minimalism to optimise space and make the most of her budget by focusing on the things she deemed essential.
The client wanted a layout that maximised space and functionality, utilising multi-functional furniture, wall-mounted storage, and clever storage solutions. She choose durable and space-efficient materials for flooring, walls, and other components.

As the budget for completion of this job was minimal, our client did a lot of the work herself, employing us for the site cut, foundations, structural and cladding application as well as roofing and guttering installation. The site was originally a steep slope so it was essential to ensure this home had a stable and level foundation to prevent future issues with the structure.

Thermo-insulated Panel Eco-Build

Our clients at Mt Tiger wanted a sustainable eco-house friendly that was designed to minimise its environmental impact by optimising resource use and employing eco-friendly building practices. This included using sustainable and quality materials, which maximised energy efficiency.

The main element of this build was the thermo-insulated panels, also known as insulated metal panels (IMPs) and structural insulated panels (SIPs) used to construct the main shell of the house. As the house is built high on a hill with strong winds, they provide high levels of thermal insulation, reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling as well as adding strength to the building. The panels used in this build offer a high-performance, energy-efficient building envelope.

Bathroom Renovation

They did a bathroom and ensuite renovation for us and the experience has been faultless. Throughout the renovation Rua constantly had suggestions to save costs but also to improve the finished result. He is incredibly giving, has a bend over backward mentality, and wears a constant smile 😊

We lived in the house during the renovation and anyone who has lived through a renovation will know how difficult it can be. Rua and his team made this so much easier and they were just a delight to have around. I thought that the dust from the renovation was going to be hard to live with however there was barely any dust because they have specialised gear to keep dust to a minimum. The Kapa team were incredibly tidy throughout the process and the site was always kept spotless. At the end of the day all tools were put away, drop sheets were removed and the work area and any other effected areas were cleaned and vacuumed.

Another major benefit was the trusted partnerships that Rua has developed with other Trades. He has surrounded himself with a dream team who have top-notch experience, expertise, and workmanship.The result is an experience that has left us raving and a renovation that is even better than we had hoped for.
